About

Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here!

Who do you work with?

I treat adults (18+) struggling with anxiety, depression, eating disorders & disordered eating, and body image distress. I love providing mental health support to adults of all ages, including college-aged young adults, perinatal moms, veterans, dads, and LGBTQIAS2+ folks.

You might work with me if you find yourself struggling with things like:

  • Overwhelming or excessive worry, stress, difficulty sleeping, irritability, and exhaustion.

  • Disordered eating behavior like bingeing, purging, feeling out of control with food, or chronic dieting. Or might find yourself preoccupied with constant thoughts about food.

  • Preoccupation with and frequent negative thoughts about your body or weight that interfere with your enjoyment of life.

  • Frequent feelings of sadness, numbness, lack of motivation, purposelessness, or a sense of isolation.

I want you to know that no matter the degree to which you struggle with anxiety, depression, food, or your body image, you deserve support and relief!

Often my clients are experiencing natural and understandable responses to the impacts of systems and societal messages. We can explore how to challenge harmful messages and beliefs, and re-attune to your core values and intuition, while also learning practical tools to alleviate distress and move towards the life you want.

What’s therapy like and how can you help?

Together, we will collaborate on an individual treatment plan using evidence-based therapies to help you get unstuck from this pattern of anxiety, depression or food and body image stress. I will support you in overcoming symptoms and developing concrete strategies to live a satisfying, meaningful life.

My style is warm, caring, and welcoming. My approach prioritizes building a caring, authentic relationship with my clients. I also respect that my clients are the experts in their own lives.

I incorporate several highly effective therapies into my practice, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing.

I work from a Health At Every Size approach, which means I respect body diversity and believe that all people deserve compassionate care. I use a weight-neutral approach, and I am a fat-positive provider. I am also a certified Intuitive Eating Counselor™ and have specialized training in helping people to find a peaceful, satisfying relationship with food. I have completed training through the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals™ (iaepd™), and I have completed the Promoting Body Trust™ in Your Work course through the Center for Body Trust™.

I’m considering reaching out to start therapy, what are next steps?

It takes courage to reach out for support, and I applaud you for prioritizing your mental health and emotional needs. It’s so important to work with someone you are comfortable with, so I offer a free brief phone or Zoom consultation to talk a little more about what brings you to therapy, and to see whether we would be a good fit to work together at this time. There are three ways you can schedule this consultation:

  • 1) Schedule directly at my Book Now link (if you can’t find an available time slot that works for you, please email me, and we can coordinate an alternate time that works better).

  • 2) Email me at AlisonDTherapy@gmail.com

  • 3) Text or call me at (520) 261-0944

If you have any questions or concerns that you would like to discuss before scheduling a free consultation, please feel free to email me at AlisonDTherapy@gmail.com or call/text me at (520) 261-0944.

I look forward to connecting with you, and I am honored that you would consider working with me!
